ode to Nantes I

c’est le Quartier Bouffay
John McByrn’s and this table
of haughty drunken fools

c’est la Cathédrale Saint-Pierre
stained glass window colored light reflections on the floor
in the gated-off cavern, late night dead body searches

c’est le Jardin des Plantes
flora meticulously sculptured
and existential crises near the tiny waterfall

c’est l’Erdre
c’est le Jardin Japonais
sun on rocks
bamboo and boats
standing on the bridge
looking down into the river
loneliness seeping through pores so clogged
by that rich, confused, magenta romanticism
